Centre for Advanced Research on Corporate Law
The Centre for Advanced Research on Corporate Law (“CARCL”) is dedicated to promote study and practice of corporate law. It aims to shape corporate law as a dynamic academic discipline through rigorous research and collaborations with institutions and stakeholders. CARCL provide students and professionals with practical exposure to corporate law issues, conducts multi-disciplinary research, and organizes workshops, seminars, e-seminars and conferences to foster discussions on emerging corporate law topics.
Focus Areas
The main objectives of CARCL are as follows:
- Providing students and professionals with hands-on experience and practical exposure to corporate law issues, inspiring deeper understanding and expertise.
- Conducting high-quality, multi-disciplinary research to support innovation and thought leadership in corporate law and governance.
- Organizing workshops, seminars, and conferences to foster discussions on emerging areas of corporate law and promote the exchange of ideas.
- Advocating for corporate law reforms through well-researched legislative proposals and policy recommendations.
- Offering training programs for entrepreneurs, academicians, and legal professionals to build capacity in the areas of corporate governance and business law.
- Publishing research papers, reports, and bulletins to contribute to academic discourse and keeping practitioners and scholars updated on recent developments.
Activities and Focus Areas
In addition to its focus on academic development, the Centre is actively involved in a range of initiatives aimed at advancing the corporate sector. It aims to offer research and consultancy services to government bodies, non-government organizations, and other agencies, both at the national and regional levels, with a strong emphasis on policy research and its practical implications. The Centre also intends to foster functional and professional linkages with government agencies and non-governmental organizations across the North Eastern Region and other parts of the country. It has built a comprehensive corporate law database to facilitate effective networking among stakeholders and foster a strong corporate law community.

The One-day National e-Seminar on Contemporary Corporate Governance in India was organized by Centre for Regulatory Studies, Governance and Public Policy, The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata in association with the Centre for Advanced Research in Corporate Law, National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam on 28th of August, 2022, 3 p.m. onwards. The e-seminar was graced with the presence of Keynote Speaker Prof. Dr. N.L. Mitra (Former Chancellor, KIIT University, Former Director, NLSIU Bangalore, Former Vice- Chancellor, NLU Jodhpur); Chief Guest Justice Sanjib Banerjee (Chief Justice of Meghalaya High Court); Resource Persons - Prof. (Dr).Indrajit Dube(Professor at Rajiv Gandhi School of Intellectual Property Law, Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur)and Prof. (Dr.) V.K. Unni(Professor, Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta).
