The National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam (NLUJA, Assam) organised a Workshop on “New Criminal Laws” on Saturday, 22 August 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The workshop was conducted by Mr. E. V. Chandru, Legal Advisor, National Investigation Agency (NIA), New Delhi.

The workshop was held at the Seminar Hall, NLUJA, Assam, with students participating both physically and remotely. Students attending from the LL.M. classrooms joined the programme through the online mode, enabling wider participation across the University.

The workshop focused on the recently introduced criminal law framework in India and provided students with an opportunity to develop a practical understanding of the new criminal laws and their implications for the investigation and administration of criminal justice. Mr. Chandru, drawing upon his professional experience with the National Investigation Agency, offered valuable insights into the practical aspects of the new legal provisions and their application in the criminal justice system.

The interactive nature of the workshop provided an enriching academic experience for the participants and enabled students to engage with contemporary developments in criminal law. The programme served as a valuable platform for bridging theoretical legal education with practical perspectives on the implementation of the new criminal laws.

The workshop concluded with an acknowledgement of the valuable contribution of the resource person and the active participation of the students and faculty members.
