Profile

Dr. Ishrat Husain is a social science graduate; he obtained his LL.B and LL.M from AMU, Aligarh. He qualified NET in 2003. He has been awarded doctorate on the topic “Administration and Management of Waqf Properties of Muslim Educational Institutions: With Special Reference to the State of U.P.” Dr. Husain is engaged in teaching since 2005. Presently, he is serving as an Associate Professor in National Law University Assam, Guwahati since 2015 and his subjects of teaching mainly are Criminal Procedure Code, Civil Procedure Code, Indian Penal Code, Law of Equity and Trusts. Three Ph.D. have been awarded under his supervision.

He was the recipient of Shastri Mobility Programme (SMP) Award- Teaching Mobility at University of Vitoria, Canada, 2019. He is also Coordinator of Exchange Programme and Foreign Collaboration in Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute. He is the Centre Head for Centre for Disability Studies and Health Laws, NLUJA, Assam and Coordinator of B.A. LL.B. (Hons) Degree course since 2017. He is a member of the Executive Council of the National law University and Judicial Academy, Assam.

Dr. Husain is keenly interested in academics. His study of diverse subjects is reflected in his articles. He has written 18 research papers and contributed more than 15 articles. Recently, his research paper was quoted by IndiaSpend and Scroll.in. He has been actively involved in organizing various conferences on behalf of the University. He participated and presented 30 papers in National and International conferences. Recently, he visited Colombo, Sri Lanka to present a paper at South Asia Conference on Multidisciplinary Research.

He has spoken as resource person and panelist respectively at several programmes organized by both government and civil society organizations viz. the Regional Centre Guwahati of the National Institute of Public Cooperation and Child Development (NIPCCD); School of Law, Sister Nivedita University Kolkata; North Eastern Applications Centre, Government of India, Department of Space, Umiam, Meghalya; Assam Administrative Staff College, Guwahati; NITI Aayog and Bharatiya Shikshan Mandal; Banikanta Kakati Research Institute of Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University, Guwahati; Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu and Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, USA; inter alia.

He has special interest in Horse Riding, Swimming and Reading. He got a certificate of Horsemanship with 2nd position from AMU, Riding Club. He has served as a Senior Section Commander in Riding Club and had been awarded chairman prize in 1994 by the university. He had participated in Delhi Horse show organized by PEPC, New Delhi. He secured 2nd position in show jumping in Jawaharlal Nehru Equestrian Meet Championship in 1993.
