Profile

Mr. Aashirwad Chakravarty is a Guest faculty member of Sociology at National Law University and Judicial Academy Assam. He is a doctoral research candidate of Sociology at Cotton University, Assam and is currently working on the domain of Sociology of Food. He is also a member of the Indian Sociological Society, specifically the Ad-hoc group Food, Culture and Society.

Mr. Chakravarty completed his Master’s in Sociology from Gauhati University in 2020 and has worked as a Guest faculty at the same from early 2023 to mid-2024. He also has pedagogic experience in Cotton University as a Teaching Assistant for the BA Programme in Sociology. Prior to his academic endeavor, he was associated as an intern in United Nations Development Programme, as well as a tutor for a skill development institute in Guwahati, Assam under the National Skill Development Mission (NSDM) and DDU-GKY (Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushala Yojana).

He has so far published four research articles, two book chapters (one co-authored), while contributing self-learning materials and MOOC lessons for KK Handqiue State Open University (Assam) under the SWAYAM scheme and IGNOU. His research interests lie in Sociological Theories, Sociology of Food, Sociology of Sports, Sociology of Numbers and Popular Culture.

Beyond academia, his interests lie in Football, as could be evident in his engagement since 2017 as a primary member of The Highlander Brigade, the supporters’ club of North East United Football Club, a franchise of the Indian Super League, as well as fanaticism for Liverpool Football Club since 2008.
