Moot Court Committee (MCC)

The Moot Court Committee (MCC) at National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam, plays a pivotal role in shaping the mooting culture within the University. Entrusted with its responsibilities under the Constitution of the Student Bar Council, the MCC ensures that mooting-related activities are efficiently managed and executed, aiming to enhance the students' advocacy and legal skills. By promoting a competitive yet collaborative environment, the MCC seeks to cultivate a culture of excellence, sharpening students' advocacy and legal skills, while also providing them with practical exposure to the intricacies of courtroom procedures.

 

The core objectives of the MCC include:

  1. Raising Awareness and Training: The Committee is committed to fostering a deeper understanding of moot courts and related competitions, providing students with the necessary training to excel in advocacy.
  2. Organizing Competitions: MCC is responsible for organizing both intra-university and inter-university competitions, which include moot courts, client counselling, trial advocacy, and dispute resolution.
  3. Internal Selection Processes: To ensure that only the best teams represent the University at national and international moots, MCC conducts internal selection rounds, known as challenger rounds, that rigorously test the students' skills.
  4. Mentorship and Monitoring: The Committee implements a mentorship program alongside continuous monitoring of teams to ensure that students maintain high standards of performance throughout the preparation and participation phases.
  5. Establishing Standard Practices: MCC establishes and enforces standard practices to which all students must adhere, promoting consistency and professionalism in all mooting-related activities.
  6. Ensuring Compliance: To maintain fairness and discipline, the Committee is empowered to take appropriate measures against teams or students in cases of non-compliance with established rules.
  7. Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion: MCC strives to ensure that the teams representing the University reflect a commitment to diversity and inclusion, fostering an environment of equality and fairness in mooting opportunities.

Through its dedication, the MCC continues to support and uplift the University's mooting teams, ensuring they are well-prepared to excel at prestigious national and international competitions. Structure of the Moot Court Committee: The Moot Court Committee at National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam, is comprised of five students, each representing their respective batches. The Committee is led by the Student Convener and operates under the guidance and support of the Faculty Coordinator, who serves as a mentor.
