ABOUT NLUJAA

The National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam (NLUJAA) has been established by the Government of Assam by way of enactment of the National Law School and Judicial Academy, Assam Act, 2009 (Assam Act No. XXV of 2009). The word 'School' is being substituted by the word 'University' as per the National Law School and Judicial Academy, Assam(Amendment) Act, 2011. The Hon'ble Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court is the Chancellor of the University. NLUJAA promotes and makes available modern legal education and research facilities to students and scholars drawn from across the country, including the North East, hailing from different socio-economic, ethnic, religious and cultural backgrounds.

  • Legal Aid Camp organised by National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam In Collaboration with Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Sualkuchi Budram Madhab Satradhikar College, Sualkuchi.
  • Centre for Child Rights, NLU Assam in collaboration with State Child Protection Society, Assam and with support from UNIDEF, Assam organised Two Day State Level Orientation Programme for DCPOs, LPOs and Counsellors on support services under POCSO Act, 2012 at Seminar Hall, Administartice Block, National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam.
  • Meeting was with PWD engineers to take up second phase construction of buildings in The National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam.
  • Sri (Dr.) Hemanta Biswa Sarma, Hon'ble Finance and Education Minister, Government of Assam did visited National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam and discussed on the new roadmap for NLUJAA.
  • Workshop was held on "Social Surfing" organised by IT department, NLUJAA in association with Center for Social Research, New Delhi.
  • National Conference on "Addressing Violence against Children in North Eastrern States and Sikkim" was organised by Centre for Child Rights in collaboration with UNICEF, Assam.
  • Inauguration of National Conference on "Addressing Violence against Children in North Eastrern States and Sikkim".
  • Inland Water Transport Regulatory Authority Workshop was organised at the National Law University Assam.
  • Executive Council meeting was held at Administrative block, NLUJAA.
  • Orientation programme was held for Student Bar Council office bearers at the National Law University Assam.
  • SBC Election for the Academic Session 2017-18 was held ending with the oath ceremony by SBC officials.
  • Preliminary meeting with Assam Inland Water Department officials along with my research team to organise workshop on Inland Water Regulatory Authority Legislation to be drafted by the National Law University Assam 21st Workshop at IWT Office, Ulubari.
  • Orientation Programme was held at Seminar Hall, Administrative Block for newly admitted students and their parents/ guardians of B.A.,LL.B. (Hons.) 2017 and LL.M. one year degree course 2017 in presence of Hon'ble Vice Chancellor Dr. J. S. Patil, Faculties, Non Teaching Staffs, Resident Doctor and Psychologist.
    Students were introduced with different centres of University and also the Antiragging Team and Internal Complaints Committee. Students were ensured that our campus is free from Ragging and Sexual Harassment.
    They were also motivated to take part in various academic and co curricular activities.
  • Two days workshop on ‘Intellectual Property Rights’ was organised at Seminar Hall, Administrative Building, National Law University, Assam. The workshop was graced with the presence of Prof. (Dr.) T. Ramakrishna, Chair professor, CIPRA, NLSIU, Bangalore; Dr. V. K. Ahuja, Associate Professsor of Law, University of Delhi; Dr. Shamnad Basheer, Honorary Research Chair of IP Law, Nirma University; Dr. Anirban Mazumdar, Associate Professor, NUJS, Kolkata; Mr. Yogesh Pai, Assistant Professor, NLU, Delhi.
  • Centre for Disability Studies and Health Laws has been inaugurated in presence of Shri Justice Ajit Singh, Chief Justice of Guwahati High Court; Prof. (Dr.) J. S. Patil, Vice Chancellor of NLUA; Hon'ble Mr. Justice Ujjal Bhuyan, Judge of Gauhati High Court; Prof. (Dr.) Shamnad Basheer, Managing Trustee of IDIA charitable trust; Dr. Ramani Barman, Managing Director of IIRDDA and Mr. Vinod Seshan (IAS), Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup (Rural) at Room No. 204, Administrative Block, NLUJAA.
  • Prof. Chia-Jui Cheng, Professor of International and Comparative Law, Soochow University Law School, Secretary - General, Xiamen Academy of International Law and Asia Academy of Comparative Law visited NLU, Assam and also delivered a special lecture on "International Trade Law".
  • One day workshop on Law and Religion by Ms. Flavia Agnes and Mr. A. Faizur Rahman on May 01, 2017 at NLU, Assam.
  • National Law University, Assam signed a MoU with Assam Administrative Staff College (AASC), Guwahati in presence of Prof. (Dr.) J. S. Patil, Vice Chancellor, NLUJAA, Shri T.N. Sharma, ACS (Retd.) consultant, Law & Justice Centre, AASC, Shri Anjan Chakravarty, Director, AASC and Smt. Sapna Dutta Deka, Additional Director, AASC which forges a partnership between the two institutions of excellence for Academic Collaboration.
  • ADUJ, three days annual cultural and literary fest  was organised.
  • Grand finale of the 1st Dr. Gurjeet Singh Memorial National Moot Court Competition was held between University Institute of Legal Studies, Punjab University and Amity Law School, Noida in the presence of Hon'ble Justice Mr. Ujjal Bhuyan, Judge, Gauhati High Court; Mr. K. K. Mahanta and Mr. Hasiebur Rahman, Senior Advocates, Gauhati High Court.
  • 1st Dr. Gurjeet Singh Memorial National Moot Court Competition was held.
  • Inauguration Ceremony of Permanent Campus of National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam in august presence of Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, Chief Minister of Assam.
  • Library organised a Book Exhibition.

  • Hon'ble Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) J. S. Patil visited Jalukbari Destitutes Home with Prof. (Dr.) Yugal Kishore, Registrar, NLUJAA and the Deputy Commissoner to provide legal assistance.
